Q: Stomach, Ulcers, Gastric Bypass Question
asked by: DoctorQuestion on September 23rd, 2009
Hello. I'm 25 years old & i like to go out & have drinks on the weekends. I always drink captain morgan with 7up & a lime, it's my favorite. (& i have tried other drinks but it happens then too, i've tried morgan diet coke, malibu diet, vodka cranberry juice, bacardi coke, sex on the beach, morgan coke) but the next day is miserable for me. I get this really sharp pain on my left side, kinda close to my bellybutton area and then i also get diarrea after i eat food, anything i eat the day after drinking always causes this for me. It's embarassing, and it happens right away, sometimes i can't even finish my meal without running to the bathroom. I hate it. But i want to go out with my friends and have a good time on the weekends. Why is this happening to me but none of my friends?? Even if we drink the same thing i'm the only one with the problems. Can i stop this?? Could it be something really serious?? I don't know what to do. Please help. Thank you :)

Hi
Welcome to the forum!
Your symptoms (sharp pain on my left side, kinda close to my bellybutton area and then i also get diarrea after i eat food, anything i eat the day after drinking always causes this for me) point more towards a food or alcohol intolerance. It is also possible that you have IBS and alcohol merely aggravates the problem.
Since you have been taking alcohol, there is a possibility of gall bladder inflammation, liver problems like fatty liver or alcoholic hepatitis and duodenal ulcer. All these conditions are easily treatable. Fatty liver and alcoholic hepatitis responds easily to stopping alcohol and diet restriction.
However a confirmed diagnosis cannot be given on net. Please consult your PCP or preferably a gastroenterologist. Hope this helps. Take care!
