Gastroscopy
Gastroscopy is an endoscopic procedure. A flexible tube with a camera on the top (endoscope) is inserted trough the moth down to the esophagus, stomach and duodenum. The patient is aware during the whole procedure and it may find the procedure more or less uncomfortable. Gastroscopy is used to visualize the esophageal, stomach and duodenal inner appearance. It is the best method for diagnosing peptic ulcer, inflammation, tumors, diverticles, varices etc. of the esophagus, stomach or duodenum.
Gastroscopy is done by a gastroenterologist.
