Q: stomach spasms

about once a year or once every other year i get excruciating spasms in my stomach, this has been going on for at least 8 years now. it comes on randomly and feels like an acid attack, but then graduates quickly to these tremendous bouts of pain that occur for a few seconds each time i swallow. i have had an ulcer for 12 years and the only thing my doctor considered out loud was that it may be from scar tissue forming.
the first two times it happened, i went to the hospital. way too expensive to continue that every other year so i went to my doctor after that and he prescribes me an anti-spasmodic. i love these - within 30 minutes, the pain is gone. however, my doctor is getting to the point of not wanting to prescribe me pills anymore, but take tests. i can't afford tests, i don't even have insurance.
when these spasms start, its usually very early in the morning - leaving me to wait at least 6 hours before i can get in to see my doctor. antacids and similar medicines don't work. any ideas on what might work that doesn't involve a prescription?

My medical condition started out that way and i had heaps of test done the end result for me was a diagnosis of gastroparesis..

Since changing my diet I have been able to lessen the attacks which were daily in the end to less frequent. I also use buscopan to help.
