I'm eighteen years old and was diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome when i was younger. The condition didn't bother me so much for many years. Up until recently I was barely bothered by bowel movements. About 2 months ago I started experiencing pains around my belly button, mostly on the left side. I went to the E.R. and they didn't find anything wrong. They even checked for ovarian cysts. My white blood cell count was normal and so was the pelvic exam.

Since then I've been experiencing intermittent abdominal pain after eating and severe pain while having bowel movements. Symptoms lean towards Crohn's disease but I have no blood in my stool.

If it means anything I've been very tired and also experiencing headaches.

What else could these symptoms be from?

The best advice that I can give you is to schedule an appt with a gastrologist who can properly dx you. It could be something as simple as a change in your diet or it could be something like Crohns.

Unsure if you know this but Irritable Bowel Syndrome is really not a disease but a place for doctors to put a name on symptoms that they can't pinpoint to anything else. Now that you are older it will probably be easier to pinpoint your issue.

Keep a journal of what you eat as well as when these episodes happen. This will be of tremendous help for your doctor & you.

Best Wishes,

~Zig
