Considering that I am very irregular, sometimes, not too often, I get these uncomfortable sharp pains in my upper stomach, which im almost sure it is gases. Strangely enough, when i get those sharp pains in my upper stomach, I also get sharp pains in my ear that come and go...what can that be? How is my ear pain associated with my stomach pain? Also, I often get back pain when i get stomach pain. What is going on? Rolling Eyes

Wow, those sound like an unusual assortment of symptoms! It seems like the constipation would possibly cause some back pain, but the ear is interesting. How long does the pain last? Is it possible you are having ear infections? Sometimes people with ear infections can also have upset stomachs that go along with it. Have you been able to ask a doctor about this mix of symptoms?

yea definitely interesting symptoms....i have not seen a doctor this time, even though in the past I mentioned it to my doctor and he kind of I guess just ignored it and I didnt give it much thought. Usually if i do get the pain it will last about a day or a couple of hours, but this time its already the third day. I can definitely deal with the pain it is just annoying. However, I felt like i had a knot on my upper back and asked my bf to massage the knot and it eased the pain in my ear. I am now thinking that the pain in my back is causing my occasional stomach and ear pain because it is very often that I get knots on my back. I dont know. It just sounds weird all together. lol.

I find this interesting and I just might have the answer in which you seek. I kept getting pain in my right ear and my PCP would tell me I had an ear infection many times. In May I was having terrible stomach pains and it was determined that I had gastritis (inflammation of the stomach) which was quite painful and my right ear would throb (it generally does when I feel nauseated). I took meds to help and the pain went away.

Fast forward several months and my right ear would get very painful...went to an ENT as I was sure that I had yet another infection and my ear was clear as could be, absolutely nothing wrong.

He did say that sometimes if there is an issue going on somewhere else in the body, like inflammation or an infection then it could cause ear pain.

Less than 24 hours later my stomach started acting up all over again. I will have ear pain when the gastritis is acting up or if I feel as if I need to vomit. Of course if there is a true ear infection. So I have learned the difference between these three.

Hope this helps,

Yes! it did help! Everyone I told said I was crazy! I do have gastritis, but have not gone to my stomach doc to check on it in a while. About my ear, I was almost sure it had to do with my stomach cuz I felt the pain at the same time. Def gotta make an app with the doc! Thank You!

Hum, I wonder if others who have gastritis also experience pain in their ear(s) as well?

And to think I thought I was all alone in this travel.

However it is strange that sometimes my ear will throb for just a minute or two but my stomach is fine ... it's like I am being given a warning that more is on the way and wouldn't you know it...if not right away, within a couple of days....stomach pain. So now I try not to forget to take Prilosec...

Refered ear pain
I have had severe ear pain in my right upper lobe. It appears to be linked to abdominal pain I have had this for years and everyone thinks I am crazy, It's interesting and refreshing to find out I am not the only one that can relate "refered pain"

Ears Are Hungry?
My doctor thought I was crazy, the thing I get is quite similar......I thought that I had an Ulcer for about 4 years of my life and was on Omeprazole for the same length of time.I finally got an Endoscopy, and had samples taken at the same time....and they both came back "normal"....which was suprisingly not good news....It just meant something else was causing this pain. The thing that I get seems to be related to my stomach, its in my ears too!. But its when I am hungry and it isn't really painful, just really annoying. when I am hungry my ears feel like they have something in them, or sometimes they have too much pressure in them.....like when on plane and you do that thing with jaw that pops them....I find myself doing that all the time. But it doesnt go away until I eat...and then when I do eat 80% of the time....it hurts like mad, I mean sharp agaonising pain....that makes me get up if I am laid down our other way round....and i get the ear/head thing too but painful, instead of just annoying....I have had it for nearly a year now, and it just came on all of a sudden.....I mean i have had stomach problems for 4 years but I never had the "ear/ head" thing until feb 2009, I was OK for a couple of months after that but then it came back and I have had it since. Its really wierd isn't it? .....And doctors just don't try and help me, I even went A%E once but there were the same.
