Q: stomach pain and kidney stones on CT scan

Someone please help!!!
My very best friend has been suffering with what the doctors are calling kidney stones for the last year and a half. She went and had a procedure done yesterday to have more stones removed on her right side. Apparently her CT scans are showing stones; however they went in yesterday and no stones. We tend to believe now and she has been told that now it is not stones. What else could it be. Any input would be appreciated.
