Hi everyone I'm new here and I really need some advice. I am 23 years old and was diagnosed with hypoglycemia over 10 years ago. I used to be overweight, but over the last year and a half I lost almost 100lbs. through diet and excercise and I am now at a healthy weight. Despite getting healthier, since january, my symptoms seem to be getting more severe and more frequent. I have had the usual fatique and moodiness, hopelessness, anxiety, dizziness, headaches, sleep disturbances, shakiness, mental fog, forgetfulness, etc., all year but now I also feel a general sadness and stomach pain like I have never felt in my life. It literally feels like I am getting stabbed with a knife after I eat sometimes. I dont know what to do, this is affecting my job, relationships, my whole life! I have called in sick to work over 5 times in 3 months! I'm scared I'm going to get fired for it. I eat healthy and don't drink soda or coffee or any other sugary beverages and I avoid sugary foods as well. The hard part for me is eating often enough. I take "the pill" and also prilosec because I initially thought the pains were related to acid reflux which is hereditary in my family. It helps, but I still get the severe pains if I wait to long to eat or eat to quickly. I'm really tired of feeling sick all the time. I don't what to do anymore and the trial-and-error process is tiresome and frustrating. Most days I just wish I could stay in bed and not eat because it seems easier than deling with the world when I'm feeling so terrible. Also, I feel like I am never going to feel better because I can not afford to get health insurance or go to the doctors Crying or Very sad I hate feeling crazy and in pain! I am having the stomach pains right now and they are so bad I'm crying. I sometimes even try to make myself throw up because I think I would feel better if mystomach were empty, but I've never been able to actually do it. My typical diet is like this:

6:30am- soy protein shake made with nonfat milk
9:30am- 1/2 of whole wheat english muffin with peanut butter
12pm- 1/2 of whole wheat english muffin with peanut butter
1:30pm- 1/2 of lean roast beef sandwich with mustard on whole wheat roll & half bag of baked chips
4:30pm- other half of sandwich and chips
7pm- usually skinless chicken breast with small serving of either boiled red potatoes or brown rice (no butter or any other toppings)

I'm really concerned about gaining weight so I'm scared to consume a lot of calories but I really need some help. I am so fed up with feeling sick, I wish I could just eat like a normal person and not have to deal with this. Its not fair. I hate it. I'm tired of feeling miserable. Also, I just remembered that I often have somewhat of a fever. I don't have a thermometer but my head feels warm but my body feels cold, yet my boyfriend will touch my arm or leg and tells me that I'm really hot. I never feel hot, in fact I usually don't even turn on the A/C even when its 105 degrees outside, my apartment usually hovers around 84 degrees in this situation and its comfortable to me. Is this a common symptom as well?

Temperature fluctuations or feelings of being really sick without any visible problems with temperature readings is quite common, I used to feel like I had a severe case of the flu all the time. I'd check my temperature, but it would be normal. I know you're not eating right. Here are some comments based on your diet:

6:30am- soy protein shake made with nonfat milk

STAY AWAY FROM SOY. It contains high levels of phytic acid, which the human body has no way of processing. So what happens is your body attaches vitamins and nutrients INSIDE OF YOU to molecules of the acid so it can pass through your digestive system. This, in turn, wears you down even more. If you've ever seen a sickly looking vegetarian, this is why, they eat too much soy. Milk is essentially a simple sugar, a dissachride in fact. Some people have no trouble with it, but it is actually a pretty quick rise in blood sugar. It's safer to have unsweetened almond milk. And keeping out fat may actually be the problem, try whole milk first, organic if you can afford it.

9:30am- 1/2 of whole wheat english muffin with peanut butter

I bet that muffin is NOT whole wheat. Check the label. If it doesn't say 100% whole wheat, guess what, it ISN'T. You should only be eating sprouted grain products, and they do make english muffins like that. Peanut butter? Tsk, tsk. It should be avoided. I bet you didn't even check the label. If you're eating a brand like Peter Pan, and even a number of organic varieties, there's added sugar. Look if you don't believe me. If you have unsweetened though, it should still be avoided. Sunbutter is the best alternative. The organic type is the only kind you can get because the others have added sugar. Unsweetened almond butter is good too, but avoid cashew and peanut butters. They're actually beans, not nuts, so they affect blood sugar much differently.

12pm- 1/2 of whole wheat english muffin with peanut butter

See above.

1:30pm- 1/2 of lean roast beef sandwich with mustard on whole wheat roll & half bag of baked chips

Roast beef often has added sugar, I'm not kidding. Check. Check your mustard too. Read above about grain. STAY AWAY FROM POTATO CHIPS. You will not be able to eat them for awhile, maybe not ever again. They're very, very, very bad for you. You seriously might as well be eating straight sugar it's that bad. Baked makes no difference and is actually probably worse because of the lack of fat.

4:30pm- other half of sandwich and chips

Read above.

7pm- usually skinless chicken breast with small serving of either boiled red potatoes or brown rice (no butter or any other toppings)

Potatoes should probably be avoided at first, I avoid ALL root vegetables based on some old Chinese data I read about it. Wild rice is best if you want to try it. Butter actually is not good to avoid, it helps you. It should be organic, however, with added omega fats if you can afford it.

I worry about eating butter, olive oil, and avocados because I don't want to get fat again. I feel like I've gained back some weight already. I used to run 30 miles a week, and I felt great eating what I described above, but instead of the shake I would just have toast and I was drinking sugary coffee drinks at that time too, and I still felt great. Is there an explantion for this?

For what? I'm a little confused as to what you're asking. You're probably gaining weight because you're not eating right. If you're, for example, definitely eating peanut butter with added sugar, it will keep the weight on you because you're not really doing anything to help yourself to begin with. Might as well eat sugar.

Sorry if I'm confusing, I not feeling well and I guess I'm not being very clear. I guess what I'm asking is why did I feel great before when I was doing all the things I mentioned above (including running and drinking sugary drinks and I was losing weight), and then litterally one day I just started feeling like crap. I mean I've had average sypmtoms my whole life but only if I was hungry. Now its ALL the time. I literally always feel like I want to die. I dont understand why my body would just start reacting differently all the sudden. Can a stressful event trigger a change in how my body would react to the foods I had been eating for years with no problems? Or can weight loss make you more sensitive to sugars? I've last about 100lbs in the last 18 months,m maybe less weight means I can eat even less sugar? Sorry if I'm rambling and confusing, oh and I checked my mustard lol it didn't have any sugar but you were right about the peanut butter.

Ha, I knew it. You'd be surprised what they add sugar to, read all your labels from now on. YES, this is EXACTLY how it happens for most people. It's how it happened to me, in fact. I was totally fine, I ate candy, drank sugary drinks, ate cake, pizza, whatever. Then, one day, I woke up in a state of panic and terror. My heart was racing, I felt ill, I thought I had a temperature, I couldn't think, all of the symptoms you know so well. It went downhill from there until I discovered what I had and eliminated it.

By checking the labels, do you mean just the nutrition facts, or actually the ingredients list? I was looking in my fridge tonight and a lot of items have sugar in the ingredients, yet the nutrition facts just says it doesnt have any.
