These noises result from muscle contractions of stomach and intestines in purpose to move the food and digestive juices down the GIT.
So, they are normal part of digestion.
Usually, are more prominent between meals, so, its presence is translated as a sign of hunger.
Also, they can indicate incomplete digestion of food that can lead to excess gas in the intestine (sounds are formed during movement of gas)
This indigestion can be found in Celiac disease, lactose intolerance, or when food high in fiber is consumed in large amounts.
When associated with abdominal pain, bloating, diarrhea or constipation, abdominal noises indicate some digestive disease.
If you are experiencing facial flushing, diarrhea, wheezing, it could be something more serious (carcinoid tumor).
