Q: Stomach and tongue discoloration
asked by: DoctorQuestion on April 4th, 2008
After eating dinner last night- homemade london broil wraps- I began getting a stomach ache about 1 hr later. After using the tiolet, it did not go away, so I took Pepto-bismol, which did not work either. I went to sleep with a stomach ache and woke up this morning with a slight ache. But that is not the primary concern- after brushing my teeth, I noticed my spit was dark- reddish/balckish. I noticed my tongue was dark in color- appeard to be reddish/blackish. I did nto drink any dark or otherwise colored fluids before going to sleep nor has this ever happened to me. Any thoughts? Is this something I should get checked out?

Stomach, Ulcers, Gastric Bypass, and Colon Disorders Answer A
According to your symptoms (stomach pain after eating) you probably had some easy acute gastritis that passed spontaneously. I am not sure about that “dark- reddish/blackish colored spit and tongue” but if it repeats you can consult your GP in order to exclude bleeding in the upper digestive system.
