Q: Stomach and Intestine problems

Hi I am posting in hopes of getting some opinions and maybe some home remedies for my hubby. He does not have insurance at the moment...it termed on 5/31/08 and he is currently trying to get it reactivated. We do not have the money right now to pay out of pocket. We know something is wrong and that he needs to see a doctor. So we are going to save up and hopefully get him to one soon.

But i need help with trying to make him feel better until then. He is in such pain and I just hate not knowing how to help.

Ok so hears his symptoms:

diarrhea in the morning for 6 months
stomach pain and cramps in the morning
he describes the pain being in his intestine right before stool enters his colon.
he has hemerroids-dont know how severe, but he has painful wiping. No bleeding in the stool only on his rectum. Burning while using the restroom.

This started around Jan around the same time I got morning sickness. We thought it was sympathy sickness. But mine stopped and his continued.

So what kind of foods or herbs can we try to help ease the pain? is there anything we can do at home for him? How serious is this?

Im so worried. I hope nothing life threatening is going on, and he isnt even convinced he needs a doc. I dont know there just has to be something we can do until he can get proper care.

Thanks for listening...i dont know what else to do.

Why he has been waiting for so long? Why he didn't ask for medical attention while he was still having medical insurance? He should ask for medical attention as soon as he reactivate his medical insurance.
Diarrhea that lasts longer than 6 months requires several diagnostic procedures starting with blood tests and stool microbiological examination. Colonoscopy may be requested later.
Herbs and diet can help only if the diarrhea is due to some functional disorder like IBS. I don't think that herbs can help if your husband has some intestinal infection, inflammatory disease, some malabsorption disorder, tumor or any other organic disorder.

Thanks for your reply! I have tried getting him to a doctor over and over again. But its like his head is made of steel and he just wont listen. He says he doesnt want to deal with the technicalities like calling on the phone and setting appts, sending faxed and requests. I tell him that this is just part of the process and that everyone does it. But I dont know. I have tried to approach him different ways but it doesnt work. Now he is getting worse and has no insurance. I am just lost. I hate seeing him in so much pain, but it makes me angry that he wont do anything about it. I will try and approach him again,
