Q: Stillbirths and subsequent pregnancy ?

On the 19th September 2009 I visited my doctor for my normal monthly check up and I was 23 week pregnant everything seemed well i.e I was not feeling sick and I thought the baby was kicking but the doctor told me that my baby is not alive. I couldn't believe my ears but it was through. The most sad part is that this was not the first time on the 30 November 2005 I experienced the same thing. I am now married and would like to have a baby but I thought I should wait for at least 6 months as the doctor advised but this week I slept with husband for the first time after birth and without contraceptives, I am worried that I might be pregnant and I don't what risk I might be in. Please help and advise me.

Thank you

If you think you might be pregnant again, take a test. If it shows up negative but you are still worried, see your OB. If it shows up positive, make an appointment ASAP because of your past history of miscarriage/stillbirths. If you do not know why you miscarried, you NEED to ask your OB. If he/she does not know, the best thing to do would be to ask for tests normally run on women who have multiple miscarriages/stillbirths.
If it turns out you are not yet pregnant, and you still do not have any clue as to why you miscarried/stillbirthed, ask your doctor or OB to help you find out why, be it tests or referrals to specialists that can help give you an answer, although, sadly, sometimes there is no answer.
I am so sorry for your loss. Losing a baby, born or not, is so tough, I know from experience.

Hi Motherofthehighspiritedones
Thank you for your response, I think its still eary for me to take a test but I will. My doctor has done the tests and he can't see the reason for the miscarriages.
