My friend was 25wks along. She was told she had a miscarriage. They said it weighed about16oz and was 9 inches long. All the research that we have done say that it was a stillbirth and, that the hospital should of issued a death certificate, and the fetus should be buried or cremated. The hospital said they do not have to do any of that because of the size of the baby. Please help us with the miss information we are getting!!?? I know she was not off on her weeks; I went to all of her doctors appointments. Please help undrestand what was happened. Did they do a d and c because the fetus was so small, and she was bleeding??

i lost my son at 24 weeks and it was a still birth. he weighed 1lb 11oz. at the hosp they told me that after 20 weeks the baby must have a burial or cremation. the size of the baby may have been why they did a d&c??

Wow, that is so sad..I don't understand why they didn't give her the baby for burial..I am sorry but to me a child is a child from time of conception..To me-fetus is a name given to dehumanize ..

I lost two children a few months into the nine month cycle..Each child to me was a human being whose time was not yet to be..The loss and pain was the same as it would have been had I lost my 3rd child..

I feel for her..TO me this just seems so wrong..

I was told that after 25 weeks the baby had to have a burial or cremation ceremony. Myprecious little angel was 31 weeks but only weighed 1.5oz. a burial is only appropriate. sorry to hear about the loss, its such a horrible horrible thing to have to go through.

My daughter was born alive at 28 w and was only 13 ounces (380g) although she passed 4 months later. I think you only get a death cert for a stillborn....when the baby is at a viable state. Even though the baby was born at 25w the size kept him.her from being able to substain life outside of the womb and was smaller than a 20 weeker in size. Maybe that's why. I would have still asked for a proper burial.
