im so confused, i need help. im pregnant, i didnt want it at first and i used cytotec to abort the baby when the baby was only a month and a few days old. After taking it, nothing happened. I just had few minimal cramps but no bleeding. I learned that cytotec are used for people with ulcers.i also have an ulcer. now im pregnant for almost 3 months. i had a transviginal ultrasound twice, the diagnose was remarkable because the baby was moving well. the heart beat is normal so as the oxygen circulation. l my main question is, what effect will it cause my baby? will my baby become abnormal due to the cytotec i used? will it hinder its development? i mean like physically or mentally abnormal? thank u so much in advance.

hi there not me, I already gave birth four months ago. My baby is fine but he was diagnosed to have g6pdd and that causes anemia. I will consult his pedia this comming saturday and ill tell you what happened. Aside from that he is doing well. I think the reason why he has it is because I'm taking some pills. I am epileptic and im taking tegretol so i guess that affected my baby not the cytotec.

TMI WARNING - DO NOT READ AND COMPLAIN LATER:

Cycotec is not an abortion pill. It is used to induce labor (cervix opens up and contractions in the uterus starts). In the US it is only used mith RU-486 (mifepristone) which is a abortion pill. RU-486 will make the uterus lining break down and starve the fetus to death, Cycotec will help your body to expell the dead fetus.

The use of Cycotec is prevalent in Latin America, Southern Africa and the Fillipines, and are normally bought on the black market. It is a very crude abortion pill and will try to induce labor and expell a live fetus. It is however only successful in about 40% of its users but it is much safer for the mothers than back alley abortions.

In studies of birth defects in these countries, it was found that up to a third of babies with some birth defect was exposed to Cycotec. This is no indication of how dangerous it is for the fetus as no statistics are available of how many healthy children got born after a failed Cycotec 'abortion'. Because of the morals and ethics of Cycotec, there are no research done on it.

Your best bet is to tell your doctor about you taking Cycotec so that he/she is aware of it and can look for signs of problems. I am not sure what the laws in your country are on doctors reporting such things to authoroties and doctor/patient confidentiality so this is not legal advice.
