Q: Sticking out ears

I am 12 years old and for the last few years i am begining to get really, really stressed out because i have sticky out ears! Everyone at school makes fun of me because of it and i just want to fit in like everyone else and wear my hair up in P.E and home. ecc. As it says on my profile i love to dance and to gymnastics. Well you have to have your hair swept back out of your face at a competition and since a dew years ago i have always hated competition because of that as everyone goes behind my back and laughs at them. So i have been trying to put a bit of hair over the ears to see if it works and they just look normal but its not strong enough to hold! The bit of hair always comes loose and my ears are just as ugly as ever. I ALWAYS wear my hair down to school and whenever im aloud to. I ALWAYS wear a hairband ontop of my ears aswell. I CANT leave the house without a hairband covering up my ears because im scared people will laugh at me! I would just LOVE to have normal ears for once in my life even if it was just for one day so i could go to gymnastics with my hair tied back noramlly with no hairband over my ears! I hope you can help me with my problem as im getting really, really stressed about it and im crying myself to sleep most nights! Thanks, catriona.

Hi Catriona,

You can have your ears surgically fixed. Try sending Dr. Oz a letter or a blog or a twitter as you have us. He will connect you to the right people who can help you. He may even invite you onto his medical show. How cool would that be, then you can have the last laugh.

Good Luck, keep us posted.

yes, my friend had ears that stick out, really bad, she had surgery that just stitches your ears back and she said it didnt hurt and didnt feel nothing! she said its worth it. But im kind off your age, well 15, and i know how annoying it is to tell your parents over little things, unless your parents are chill but tell them how self conciuss it makes you luck Very Happy
