Two days ago, I discovered a pain in my sternum, its freaking me out, the pain is very mild, it is not a strong pain, however, it bothers me when I try to reached out, it sounds as if my bone is cracking or breaking. One of my rib one my right side is a bit swollen, since I discovered the pain. Is there anything serious on this, cuz, I read couple of commentaries on this type of pain and it seems like a lot people are experiencing the same pain as I am going through right now. Is there any medication that I should need to take for the pain other than Iboprofen?

If this sternum pain is a pain over the front of the upper chest (the area of the sternum) and at the junction of the rib bone and breastbone, it can be due to condition known as costochondritis (is an inflammation of the cartilage that connects a rib to the breastbone).
The pain is usually sharp, but, can be mild, too, depending on the intensity of inflammation.
When there is a swelling, the condition is suspected for Tietze's Syndrome (the pain is more intensive than in your case).
