Q: steps to become pregnant ?

So me and my husband are trying to get pregnant. We were going to start sooner but I didnt get a period for 4 months, and so I started exersizing and taking vitamins and actually drinking the right amount of water a day thinking my diet was to blame, since I've sorta wasnt eating much, and when i did it wasnt healthy and I hardly touched water its usually soda or energy drinks.
and well last month I started my period. I was and am so happy.

But i'm confused now when in my cycle i'll ovulate. we have sex often enough that it wont really matter i dont think. Almost every other day usually... I have a calender that i started this month of days we have sex, whether i took my vitamins or drank the right amount of water etc, but also i put down the days that online calculators said I MAY ovulate on.

I have a 30 day cycle to the dot. and even after four months my period started on the pretty much the exact day it should have, and ended after 5 days (as normal for me.)

I've quit smoking as of the first cold turkey, and am doing more to keep my body in shape and healthy.

So my question! Is there anything else I need to be doing to get pregnant? and if anyone knows of a good way to find out when you'll ovulate that would be great.

just so ya'll know i'm 19 my husband is 20 almost 21. I'm overweight 5'3 about 240 lbs last i checked, normal blood pressure, I'm possibly hypoglycemic(husband had an ex who had it and says I have every sign of it.) But a docs yet to confirm cause well i dont really like doctors much.
can any of this effect my ability to conceive or when i do get pregnant affect the baby?

and lastly! (sorry i'm so full of questions!) Can bi-polar be passed onto my child? I'm so afraid my kids gonna have to suffer with what i suffer with every day, i'd hate to have to know that i passed it on.

Congratulations on quitting smoking, that is a big (and difficult) step!

It sounds like you are doing everything correctly. I suggest you start tracking your basal body temperature. I suggest you check out fertilityfriend.com. It is a free site that helps you track your bbt. It also provides a free tutorial to teach you how to monitor and what other factors to monitor. It is the best way to know when/if you are ovulating.

You could also try ovulation prediction tests. They are very effective as well.

Thanks thats so far been the hardest part for me, but i've been wanting to quit anyways just couldnt seem to.

I'll give that site a lookover now.

where can i find ovulation predictors? I dont see them in stores over here for some reason.

(and as a funny side note. I dreamed last night about seeing a positive pregnancy test..well many of them actually..usually when i thought i was preg. i saw only negative ones as if i was being told it wasnt happening then. maybe it means something maybe it doesnt Smile )

Sorta another important question!
I dont eat vegetables at all. I've never been able to stomach the taste of them, and still cant. I've tried because my husband is saying i'm gonna die if i dont. (which i dont buy) but the moment i try to swallow it i nearly throw up, and if i do manage to get it down i'm sick feeling the rest of the day. I can handle corn and tomatoes but thats it. nothing leafy nothing green.

I take multivitamins like i said, but is this enough? or do i need to force feed myself the veggies somehow?

I would try to eat vegetables if you can. But if you are taking a prenatal vitamin, you should be ok. No need to make yourself sick over it. There are some juices available that offer you vegetable servings, you might want to check them out.

Walmart and any major stores (including CVS and such stores) will sell ovulation prediction tests. They are normally by the pregnancy tests. I like the strips because they are cheaper. But some women aren't comfortable with them.

You can also buy them online. If you just google "opk" or "cheap ovulation prediction test" it should take you to some sights that sell them. I have also bought them from Ebay before, Ebay normally has the same selection just in larger quantities.

well the past week and a half my nipples have been beyond sensitve..almost painful to touch, and the boob itself has been slightly more tender..i read this was a veeery early sign of pregnancy..but also could be PMS

Thing is I should have started my period on the 23 its now 4 days late...whats weird is I swear to everything i had PMS..i was moody, ten times more irritable then normal (and it wasn't my bi-polar causing it) and even gassy and had to pee more..all the signs i usually get with my PMS.. but then they stopped, and my boobs had the above symptoms. and I didnt get my period.

So i'm going to go buy pregnancy tests offline in bulk...that way by the time they get here if i am preg it will show up. (hopefully)

Heres hoping! (although if i am...i'm gonna feel so bad..i caved in while i had PMS..and smoked..alot of cigs. I figured if i was going to start my period what the hell...) I havent had any since the day after i should have started it though...and dont plan to. sunny

It's advised that women who are TTC (trying to conceive) should get a pre-pregnancy check-up with a doctor. I know you said you're not fond of them, but it really is a good idea to make sure your body's in good condition to support a pregnancy. And if you do have problems (like hypoglycemia) your doctor can advise you on ways to manage it. He/she would also be the best person to ask what other things you should be doing to make sure you're healthy and ready for a pregnancy.

When you do become pregnant, you really need to eat a balanced diet. That includes fresh fruits and vegetables. Your diet is extremely important to keep you and your baby healthy! It would probably be a good idea to work your way towards eating a more balanced diet. Find vegetables that agree with your tastes, and then find recipes that include them. You can flavor most anything so that you can't really taste "icky" vegetables!

Good luck.

that sounds rough..

i dont know much, but if you dont know when you may ovulate you could always just do what me and my hubby did. Just try to have sex every other day after your period ends and untill it begins again. Or try looking up an ovulation calculator online, enter the date of your last period then the length of your cycle (31 days) and it will give you an estimate. Smile

As for quitting smoking..it is hard. really hard. I quit cold turkey, but sadly recently after a month i started up again cause i thought i was a bout to start my period and thought what the hell if i'm not pregnant i can smoke. but now i'm guilty since it wasnt PMS o0 anyways getting off track! If you cant quit right away just work on tapering down slowly or putting off having a cig during the day for as long as you can, thats how i'm trying it now it seems to be working for me.
