Hello,
I started a sore throat on Sunday, fever monday and was diagnosed with strep on tuesday evening. The doctor at the clinic prescribed me 2x500mg of amoxicillin, 2x per day, that's 2000mg per day. Everything I am reading on the net states that a normal does it 500-1000mg per day. It's Friday morning (around 5am) I have slept maybe 5 hours in the past 96 hours, I read that insomnia can be a side effect of the drug.

Also, last night I noticed my eyes were very red, more red than I've ever seen them, like covered red. I wonder if its because I havent slept. My fever has stopped but my throat has not gotten any better it's still extremely painful at all times pressing on my ear drum and giving me a really bad headache as well.

Should I keep taking the dose of amoxicillin ? if I go back to the doctor im going to have to wait 12 hours to see someone and it probably wont be the same doctor.

Thank you,

EG

I should mention that the doctor did not perform a strep test, just looked at my tonsils and said there is no need, it`s strep.
