Hey ladies. I am going to be starting on a new (to me) birth controll pill called Reclipsen. It is generic for Desogen. I was having breast pain and ance with Ortho Tricyclen Lo and after a year of it I have had enough. I was prescribed Reclipsen. I'm a little nervous about it. My doctor said it should help clear my complection, but I haven't heard of this brand before. I'm nervous because it is generic and the few things I have read are complaints about migraines, etc.

Have any of you ladies ever been on Reclipsen or are you now? I'd love to get some feedback and hear how it's worked for other women. Maybe it'll help calm my nerves about the whole thing too ya know? Wink I remember having a hard time adjusting to Ortho Lo and now I'm nervous about this different pill brand.

I'd really be greatful for any feedback and comments! Thanks! Very Happy

Yeah, I've noticed that I've had really bad headaches since I've been on reclipsen (going on 4 months now). My periods have been all weird too. Seems like they take forever to start now and they are much lighter than they were on Othro Low. Kind of missing Othro Low now.

i started it as well
My dr told me it would help w/ my acne. I've been on it only a month and half and if nothing else, it's gotten worse. Does anyone know if this is normal, where it's going to get worse before it gets better?
Also, I get really bad stomach cramps all night long and in the morning until I eat breakfast, has anyone else done that either, and if they have, does it ever get any better??

Yeah, my dr said it would help with my acne too but it seems to have gotten worse. It seems like I can't win for loosing! I had some really bad cramps too, but over time they have gotten a little better. I've been on reclipsen for about 4-5 months now. I don't think it gets any better than this.

I'm on it too
I started Reclipsen a little over a month ago and I will say my first period was AMAZING! For years I have had terrible cramps, and the only thing I could do for about 20-30 hrs straight was lay in bed with a heating pad and meds.

Not anymore!!! I hope my periods stay like this forever! I had a little cramping for a couple days and then a light period. Amazing. I am 26 and had my first child 15 months ago. My Dr said it might have been the baby that helped my cramps too.

I'm on it
I've been on Reclipsen for maybe about two or maybe even three years now. My skin has dramatically cleared up, I don't get cramps anymore, my period only lasts for about three days.. the last two with a super light flow, and my headaches arent as bad. I was on Mircette for about a year before I started Reclipsen. With Mircette.. I gained about 20 pounds in a year.. I had severe cramps, painful headaches that lasted for DAYS, and a heavy flowing period that lasted for about 10 days. My acne also worsened.
I have read alot of bad reviews about this pill.. but every person reacts to things differently.. my reaction was great.

ugh
i just took my first pill of reclipsen because my insurance no longer covered ortho low. I am a little nervous after reading all this how it will effect me.. but i will make sure to keep you updated.

Never heard of this type before and I perplexes me how a doctor will come to a conclusion about the type of birth control I should switch to.. After all, sometimes one forgets that BC is in fact another PILL that will effect the chemistry of your body.

Wish me luck Smile

I know how you feel. I was on ortho low and switched too because I lost my insurance. I had never heard of reclipsen before and I also wonder why the doctor chose this pill. Like you said, it is still a pill and will affect your body.

I've had mixed results, but good luck. Maybe yours will be better.

Reclipsen side effects
I have been having 2 stomach aches a month since I started the Reclipsen, four months ago. I've had mild headaches and been getting breast lumps as well. I went to a Gastroenterologist recently who drew the correlation. I've just switched to another generic, April Tabs, that I took years ago with no side effects. Hopefully the stomach aches will go away now.

I switched from Apri to Reclipsen because my insurance changed. I have been on it for three months and I am switching next month to another birthcontrol. The reclipsen completely killed my sex drive, which is one way to "control birth" . . . I don't want to have sex. Anyway, I can't live like this. I DO NOT RECOMMEND USING RECLIPSEN.

Just this month, I began taking the Reclipsen as suggested by my OB/GYN to cure the heavy, lengthy, and severely painful periods I was having. I haven't been on any birth control for more than 15 years and am looking forward to any type of relief. I'll blog any updates to keep you informed.

I have been on Reclipsen for 4 months now. I absolutely hate it. My triglycerides have gone up from 50 to 201, my blood pressure has increased, my head CONSTANTLY hurts, and after a consultation w/ my eye doctor he said that the pill is causing me to have extremely dry eyes. I'm not producing any tears at all which make my eyes extremely sensitive to light. Another thing was my sex drive, its GONE. So my husband is all for me trading over to something else. I never had problems with pills but this one just doesn't work w/ my body chemistry.

reclipsen
much like many of you, i have had severe, debilatating headaches since starting this pill (while i dhave a history of migraines, i have never experienced them with this frequency and intensity)... my doctor put me on reclipsen after i had laparoscopic surgery for endometriosis. the first 2-3 months were amazing - my periods were lighter, i had no cramps or fatigue. but these last 2 months have been horrible! my cramps are back now in full force; 2 weeks before i start my cycle. i gained at least 15 lbs since i started this pill, and my emotions have gone haywire. i have an appt with my doctor today and am going to demand a new presciption.

I used to take Ortho Tricyclen Lo too, and I was getting really bad cramps and acne, so my doctor switched me over to Reclipsen, and it's been working great for me ever since. Haven't had any headache problems with either.

I've been on Reclipsen for about 3 months now. I honestly feel like I'm losing my mind!! My breasts are bigger than ever and are very tender. I also am so hungry I double over with hunger pangs. There is no libido and my mood swings are unbearable. I'm calling the Dr. tomorrow and getting off of this pill ASAP!!

reclipsen
I have been on Reclipsen now for 7 days for an IVF cycle. I have terrible cramping every day and an increase in headaches. If I could I would ask for something else! (Oh and I've gained almost 10 pounds without changing my eating habits!)

I'd been on Reclipsen for a long time and am kind of upset that Rite Aid switched me to Apri...Anyways, I thought it was great! My periods were always light and I rarely get cramps so I believe it really depends on each individual regarding side effects. I don't have skin problems or migraines (or maybe I haven't correlated the two on that one...) but it's always good to just go for it, try it out, and see how it works for you. Good luck!

Reclipsen
How long after going of Reclipsen can you get pregnant? I was on them for like 31 days.

For those complaining about having to from Apri to Reclipsen or vice versa... its all in your head, because they are the exactly the same medication, just another generic name (.15 mg Desogestrel and .03 mg Ethinyl Estradiol). I've never had a problem on either (I take reclipsen while I'm at school and Apri at home), except that I do have frequent and severe migraines, although my neurologist has never connected that to my birth control... I may bring it up at my next appointment.
