Hey everyone!

I''ve been on Enpresse-28 for several months now and I found out that I will be starting my period a few days before my boyfriend gets back from work-related travels. I''m wondering if it''d be alright to start my period early by skipping the last three active pills and beginning my placebo pills?

I know I could skip my period completely but I did this last month and I want to be sure that I do get my period.

I was also curious as to whether or not inducing my period would increase my risk of pregnancy. I know that, in general, not taking active pills does increase the risk. But I did hear that the rule for taking birth control was that you need to take at least 21 pills with no more than a 7 day break to be protected, and since I''d be taking a total of 39 pills, I figured it would okay.

gcoop, Enpresse 28 is a triphasic pill (it is a generic Triphasil). That means every single week has a different hormone combination. These pills needs very special care when you want to skip your period to prevent bad side effects. Three methods exist in order of preference:

1) Take PACK 1 : week 1, week 2, week 3; PACK 2 : week 3; PACK 3 : week 3; PACK 4 : week 3 and then the 7 inactive pills. Throw away all the unused pills or keep it for in case you loose a pill or forget to get a new pack in time.

2) Combine the two packs and finish week 1 from both packs, week 2 from both packs, week 3 from both packs and then 7 inactive pills from just one pack.

3) Take in order the first pack, week 1, week 2, week 3 and then pack 2 week 3, week 2 and week 1 and then 7 inactive pills.

You should be OK now by just stopping 3 days early. It is however not quite clear what your bleeding pattern will look like. There are also other ways to control your flow without resorting to manipulating your pills. Look at disposable menstrual cups (like the Instead SoftCup). It fits at the top of your vagina, catches your flow for up to 12 hours and does not interfere with any physical activities or sex.

Thanks for all the helpful information!

So since my bleeding pattern is unclear, does this mean I may not start my period on my usual time? Like I usually begin on the 3rd or 4th placebo pill but is it possible I could start on the 5th or 6th?

Yes, it certainly is. There is just no way to predict what might happen. You might also start on the first or second placebo.

DELAYED PERIOD
I was having a delayed period for 13 days my doctor did for me pregnancy test and it was negative she prescribed for me primulot to be taken for 4 days ..after 4 days of taking primulot i got my period can i take microgynon pills its my 4th day of my period today....pls.reply
