Q: Starting ortho lo and long period

I started bc (ortho tri cyclen lo)for the first time 3 days after my period started. It's now been almost been 3 weeks and my period doesn't seem to be stopping. It's not very heavy but it's not very light either. Is this normal because I can't stand having my period for this long.
