You CAN start it now, and you will only NEED ONE FULL WEEK of pills before you can rely on them for birth control.

YOU do not need 1 whole month, your pill package information booklet explains this as well. Smile

Yeah, you'll be fine.

When/If your period starts, just keep going with the pack. Becuase you're starting a little late, your cycle might be a little off. Just know that you'll be fine, and just keep taking those pills as directed. Smile

Hi,

I`m in a foreign country at the moment and now have a boyfriend. I know I can start the pill at any point in the period, but need to use protection for 7-10days after the first pill. I started the pill again on the 6th day after my period. I`ve been taking them quite regularly, with the exception of one day when I was about 10hrs late. I am now on the 3rd day of my placebo pill and I still haven`t gotten my period. I am wondering if I misunderstood how the pill works if we start in the middle of the cycle. Since I started 6 days in, I have 5 pills left untouched at the beginning of the package. Should I have taken those before the placebo pills? or was I correct in presuming that I continue along the package until I finish my placebos, and then start a fresh new pack from the start?

I really thought long and hard and did some research on the net before i started the pill, but I`m afraid I misunderstood. It`s very difficult to find an english speaking doctor, so I wasn`t able to get a consultation regarding this issue.

I appreciate help any one can offer, thanks.

Yeah, you should have taken those pills. Always start with pill 1 and take one pill each day.

Use a back up method until you are a week into your new pack and start your new pack on time.

If you don't get your period, then test. But I don't think you were at that much of a risk.
