Q: Started pill one week after period

I may have misinterpreted how to start taking the pill for the first time. I waited until after my period was over(one week later) and started taking it. I think I may have started it wrong. Can I continue to take my remaining pills or start over and take it the first day of my period? Knowing I should have started it on the first day or within /in 24 hours of my period makes me concerned.

You can keep taking them as you are, but your period may be a little off for a while.

Remember to take your pills for an entire week before having sex without a back up method. You need a full week of perfect use before you're protected.

You may be a little off compared to your pills-- only for a month or two though and that's not a problem.

You'll be protected after a week of taking your pills correctly. No mistakes!

No. You aren't protected until you take the pill for an entire week correctly.

Oh you didn't mention that part.

You should be taking your pills as directed. So when you are out of placebo pills you immediately start your active pills.

If you skipped placebo pills and started early, thats not a problem. If you started late, then you were probably not protected.

Ah right I think I get it. lol.

I've taken it correctly ever since i started, which was 2months and 7 days ago. It's just that I misunderstood and started my very first packet a day after my period. I hope that's okay.

You are protected when you've been taking your pills for an entire week without missing any.

Then, assuming you've been taking your pills correctly and starting on time, you'd be protected through your periods and even at the start of a new pack.

It doesn't really matter when you start your first pack, just that you wait that 7 days and take the pills correctly after that.

I have just started my period today and was planning to start taking the pill today too for the first time. But I;m on holiday so I don't have it with me. Can I start taking the first ones in 2 weeks time when I get back even though I will no longer have my period? And if so, will this make me get an extra period for month??
