I started taking birth control 4 days ago and my period is still going on, stronger than it was before I began taking bc. Is this normal? I do not have sex or intercourse of any kind. I'm just worried because I thought that while on the active pills you weren't supposed to get your period, but this is my first pack and first week of bc.I started on Sunday because that's when my period started. Any replies will be helpful. Thank you.

Sometimes it takes a while for birth control to 'kick in'; it doesn't change your body instantaneously. Give it a month or two to work and if you continue to have problems, consult your doctor or gynecologist.
