Staph Infection Not Responding to Antibiotics?
Posted: 07-22-04 19:49pm

Hi all,

my face started to break out about 2 weeks ago which I thought was a rash. I saw an urgent care doctor who prescribed me a hyrdocortisone foam that I used for a few days.

The "rash", which looks like lots of tiny red bumps, a few of which have a little pimple like whitehead on them, then started to spread around my face and down behind my ears, to my neck and chest.

I saw my regular doctor who look at me and said it was a staph infection. He prescribed me dicloxacillin 500mg x 4 a day.

I've been on it now for 3 days and i'm not getting better. In fact, it's getting worse. It has since spread to down my back, right down my spine, and is all over my chest.

I called my doc back and he said it would probably be a few more days before I noticed a difference. So it seems funny to me that it looks like it's getting worse.

Has anyone ever heard of this type of skin infection or have any experience on how long it would take for it to start getting better? I trust my doc, but i'm concerned it's not getting better, and i'd like my face back. Smile

thanks for any info.

3 days is simply too early for them to go away. At least 2 months is when you start seeing results.
