Stammering problem is a gene disease?

Iam mohan, age 23 and i have stammering problem from my birth. My grand father, father and my brother also having this problem.
To overcome this, i followed "reading books in sound voice" and breathing practice but still struggling with starting problem.
My question is, whether this stammer problem is gene problem? and how to over come it.
