I was diagnosed stage 2 Aug 2010. GTX 2 cycles pre-surgery. Gastric bleed (resolved itself) stopped chemo. Surgery moved up then canceled afetr laproscopic sighting of small liver mets none which showed on CT or PET. Folfirinox started Nov 2010. Currently on 8th cycle with two 2-week delays(Blocked stent and Low Plats) Last PET shows major shrinkage, almost no readings. Hopefully by next scan(April), the tumor will not show on the scans. What is next?? Surgery?? Radiation would be hard if they can not "see" any tumor in the scans.

Unfortunately, most surgeons will not offer surgery for pancreatic cancer if there is verified metastatic disease outside of the pancreas and surrounding lymph nodes. In such cases, ongoing ("palliative") chemotherapy, with or without radiation treatment to the pancreas, is usually offered (radiation treatment is usually not given to areas of metastatic disease, though).

I hope that your current treatment will continue to help and extend your life.

Sincerely,
