Q: 1st 2 ounces!

For Reyna's(who is 6 months) best interest I am having to wean her. This is a very difficult task for a baby who HATES bottles and has not yet mastered the sippy cup because she sees it as a toy. Tonight we finally got her to drink 2 WHOLE ounces of formula from a medicine dropper! This is progress as she is finally accepting the formula. Please pray for us and our efforts Razz

Good Luck!!

I was forced to wean Angelique, due to lack of milk, so she took to the bottle quite well (she was starving at that point). So I have no idea what you are going through :-/

She's the same way with the sippy cup, and the bottle for that matter, lol. EVERYTHING is a toy, whether she's aloud to have it or not, lol.

Good Luck!!

It's very tough. She is stubborn. I have recently learned I have Hep C and with the ongoing thrush I do not want to risk passing it to her from my bloody nipples. I have an appointment with the derm and gastro so hopefully I will find some relief soon.

You might want to try having someone else give her the bottle/feed her when you are not breast feeding. She associates you with the boob. It isn't that she doesn't like the bottle, it is that she would much prefer your breasts to the bottle. It takes different than what she is used to and the flow is much faster. They don't get the long sucking motion on a bottle that they do on the breast.

It will be hard and very trying. You should remove yourself (if you can) from her feedings until she is weened. It will make it easier for her.

Today she decided she'd prefer to chew on the bottle's nipple...at least she let it in her mouth. I am leaving her with my mom and formula tomorrow so we shall see how that goes. Thank you for your support. I had every intention of breastfeeding until at least a year so I am a little disappointed that I am having to wean her so early. I may continue if I can get this thrush/yeast infection cleared up and the docs can give me the okay to continue.
