I was taking effexor 75mg for 8yrs because of generalized anxiety & depression and decided to go off the medication in December 08, with the help of my doctor. Life was going well for me, at the time, and I felt I no longer needed to take medication for my problem.I felt ok for about 2 months, but now the anxiety is back in full force and I have to start all over again, seeking help & treatment. My therapist said many people stay on these drugs safely for their whole life & it's perfectly ok. Some people don't have the ability to produce enough seretonin and need the help of chemicals to feel well-
My advice to you is not to worry about getting off a drug, if it is helping to improve the quality of your life. Hope my share helps
