I know that you can have genital herpes on your mouth and vise versa. My question is that if my boyfriend and I already have genital herpes, and I preform oral sex, can i also outbreak on my mouth? Or, because I already have the infection, it won't matter?

HS2 is not as easily transferred to the mouth...

HSV1 which lives in the neck, commonly known as oral herpes, which is not as active as HSV2(lives in the bottom of the spine), is very easy to transmit to the vagina through oral sex.

While it is unlikely, I cannot say it is impossible. It is rare though.

I guess you could have an outbreak on your mouth...its a possibility. I dont think its a big one though. My hubby and I both have genital herpes and we enjoy oral sex too. We have yet to develope oral sores from each other. We have been together for nearly 2 1/2 years. So maybe maybe not. Since you both have it I wouldnt worry too much. just dont have any kind of sex IF there is a sore anywhere.
