Q: spray tans while pregnant

Ok... so summer is here and I'm as white as a ghost. My doctor advised against tanning in a bed or being out in the sun too much. I always tan during the summer because it just makes me feel more confident. Anyway, I am considering getting a spray tan. Its not one of those booths... from what I understood, the woman actually sprays you herself. I know there's always the risk of turning orange and getting streaks, but has anyone had any good experiences with spray tans?

never had a spray tan and I spent lots of time in the sun last summer. I was 9 months pregnant in Sept. Im fine and baby is fine. I think as long as you dont dehydrate, sunburn, or get too overheated you should be fine.

What is the danger w/tanning while preggos?

He said it raises your body temp. and that its not good for the baby. Maybe I'm just being a little too paranoid lol.

i buy my own spray tan and lotions and apply it myself..i have no problems w/streaking..just be careful not to get too carried away and turn yourself into an oompa loompa..also, I usually wear gloves when applying the lotions bc I find that my palms get dark VERY easily even when I wash my hands after applying the lotion...i'm very fair as well and dont care to bake myself in the sun..so self tanners do the job for me!

Well, I convinced a friend to go with me yesterday after work to get a spray tan. Over all I'm pretty satisfied. The only bad thing is that my feet turned orange lol. I guess I'll just scrub them and see if they lighten up.

yeah the body temp cant go above 100 I think. Thats why submerging in a jacuzzie could be dangerous...

Im glad you liked your tan

spray tanning and pregnancy
Spray tans are very commonly used throught the beauty therapy industry and are far less harmfull to yourself or your baby than exposure to UV. as long as your therapist is reputable and proffessional you should have no concerns about your tan going patchy. they will give you after care and home care advice and these are good indicators of what to do and not to do in order to achieve the best reults from your tan. spray tanning is not advisable within the first trimester of pregnancy and please ensure your therapist has adequete ventilation when spraying you.
hope this helps
