Q: Spotting while trying to skip period

I have been on Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo for over a year now and attempted to skip my period without looking into it. The day before my last active pill I took very late at night but other than that I have been on time and taking every day. The last day of my actives I noticed some spotting but this has happened before and didn't think anything of it. I started my new pack the next day. The brown discharge got heavier. I continued the actives hoping it would go away. I am now on my sixth active pill and it really only comes when I use the bathroom now or when I'm really active throughout the day. I just want the spotting to go away. I am sexually active and I tried to push my period to be with my boyfriend on his birthday. I've had some cramping. Do I continue to take the actives? Start a new pack? Again, I really just want the spotting to stop!

Extremely eHealthy

Spotting and breakthrough bleeding is normal when you use the pill to stop you from menstruating. Even the pills purposely made for this will normally not stop spotting and breakthrough bleeding for a few months before your body fully adjusts to it.

You can always try a menstrual cup to give you some "dry" time with your boyfriend. That way you will not have to mess with your hormone levels and suffer the side-effects.
