Q: Spotting while taking Birth Control?

I am 25 and have been on the pill for over a year now. I had intercourse with my husband about 7 days ago. I just realized on Saturday that I had missed taking Thursday and Friday's pill. So I took 2 pills on Saturday and planned on taking 2 the next day to catch up. I woke up the next morning on Sunday with some spotting that has lasted all day. I have never had spotting before. My period is due in another 13 days. Any ideas?

It was probably because you missed pills. Spotting can occur whenever you do not have a steady flow of hormones in your system, which you did not since you forgot pills.
Spotting is common in this event. It may take the rest of your cycle to even out. I would suggest using extra protection for the rest of your cycle too, as disrupting your hormones can cause you to ovulate at a later time during your cycle.
