I have been on birth control for 7 years, (Trinessa) This month when I started my new pack, the third week in I started spotting red blood, the spotting is heavier than normal and it been going on for 4 days wit one day there was no spotting. I usually do spot a week or two before my period but this time its more spotting than usual? Is this normal?

Spotting in the third week of the cycle is not normal. Spotting could be a side effect of the birth control pills and, if so, you shouldn’t worry about that very much. But spotting can also be due to an organic disorder like infection, endometrial polyp, submucosal myoma, cervical polyp, cancer, etc.

You may want to consult a gynecologist about the cause for your spotting.
