Q: spotting and irregular bleeding

I just started using my nuvaring on dec 15th and i put it in on the first day of my cycle. so now i am in week 2 of my nuvaring and i have been experiencing alot of spotting and irregular bleeding. i was wondering if anyone else has experienced this and if so how long does this go on?
i called up nuvaring cuz my gyno wasnt in and they said after my 3rd cycle it should be much less and this is just my body adjustting to the ring but its very annoying and prevents me from being able to have sex cuz it feels like i have my period every day!

The people at NuvaRing told you the truth. One of the unfortunate effects of taking hormonal birth control is that your body can go a little nuts as it tries to adjust to the new hormones. Btw, some women experience similar problems when they go off hormonal birth control. (I was on the pill for about a year and when I went off it I had a period that lasted a full month!) I had just decided to go to my on/gyn when my body righted itself. So count your blessings and try to be patient during this time; it could be much worse.
