Early Pregnancy Signs and Symptoms Answer A3919
Spotting after the period can be considered as metrorrhagia or prolonged menstruation (menorrhagia). Spotting can be due to organic or functional reasons. Organic reasons include: infection, tumor (polyp, cancer), injury, endometriosis, foreign body etc. Functional bleeding is due to a hormonal misbalance in the axis hypothalamus-pituitary-ovaries. There is nothing you can do but to consult your gynecologist. A vaginal examination, ultrasound scan, Pap-test, etc can be done to find out the reason for the bleeding.
