Spotting after the period can be
considered as metrorrhagia or prolonged
menstruation (menorrhagia). Spotting can
be due to organic or functional reasons.
Organic reasons include: infection, tumor
(polyp, cancer), injury, endometriosis,
foreign body etc. Functional bleeding is
due to a hormonal misbalance in the axis
hypothalamus-pituitary-ovaries. There is
nothing you can do but to consult your
gynecologist. A vaginal examination,
ultrasound scan, Pap-test, etc can be done
to find out the reason for the bleeding.
