ok so heres my story...

I had my Mirena in place for 2 yrs w no problems. no period the whole time and no cramping(which was great because w/o IUD my periods were BAD and cramping was crippling) I had my IUD removed july 1st because my husband and I want to get pregnant. I started spotting 2 days after removal...and spotted for a few days. it was very light and infrequent. The spotting stopped a few days(like 4-5 days) then started again. This time was like a light period....some cramping and heavier constant bleeding for 3-4 days. 1st question:was this my period?

2nd question:my OBGYN says i can try but I dont really know when to test for ovulation because im not sure if that was my period? how long does it take to typically get pregnant after mirena removal?

thanks

Im in the same boat..I had the mirena removed aug 6th and began bleeding right away the same day and it lasted for 7 days..Was that my period?? Not sure...However due to my wondering I looked up when I should be ovulating and it say between the 16th-20th of aug..My husband and I had intercourse on the 16th which was the day I "ovulated" and I did not get pregnant..Im so confused..I can't get a clear answer on when and how long it takes to return to normal after the Mirena..

Hi Ladies-- I am also trying to figure it all out. I had my mirena taken out this week and been having some spotting. I would really like to figure out when I will ovulate and am thinking I will just use continual ovulation tests until I get a positive read. NOW...What I can share with you is that with my first pregnancy after mirena it took 5 months to conceive while really trying. With my second pregnancy after mirena, it took 1 month to conceive without really trying. I know this isn't really that helpful, but at least it gives you a little more info. As I said, even with my previous experience I am still trying to figure out how to pinpoint ovulation.

I am in the same boat as all of you! I see that the last post was in October so I am hoping that someone is still posting here! I had my Merina out Jan 28th 2010 followed by a very heavy AF for 10 days! My ovulation tests have never read positive and I am now 12 days late for my AF with neg tests! I am desperately wanting to be pregnant! My son is 5 and it took 3 years for my hubby to be ready for another one!

I am ALSO in the same boat...I had my period (very light! I have never had to use underwear protection while on the mirena) on Feb 28, then I got my mirena taken out on March 18. Two days later I started bleeding..much heavier than I have experienced throughout the whole mirena process but still not overwhelmingly. I bled for about 3 1/2 days. I assumed it was a period until I started spotting brown on March 28 which is about the time a period would have been according to my period while the mirena was still in. So then I figured that the bleeding after the mirena was taken out was just due to the change in hormones (which seems to be true). So now my question to you is this...Could I be pregnant and that is why I just got a tiny brown spotting when it would have been a normal cycle time? Took a pregnancy test, showed up negative.

Hi...to all you ladies with all of the uncertainty.
I had my Mirena removed on February 4, i didnt start spotting until two days later on and off (very light). My husband an I started right away (the same day of removal) before I was supposed to ovulate, and GUESS WHATI am almost 8 weeks pregnant with absolutely no complications. So, for all of you ladies wanting this so much, it is definitely possible!

light or no period after removal
I had the mirena for 2 years almost to the date. Had no period the entire time. Had a few "normal" periods post removal but all of a sudden my periods started getting closer together, lighter and sometimes it would just be old blood/brown on underwear or when I wipe. Not sure when I am ovulating or on an actual period as I am so irregular these days. Can anyone relate to my situation and provide any advice or help?

Mirena Issues
I really don't have any answers. I've had Mirena for almost 2 years and then just this month had a (light) period which is my norm on Mirena @ my 28 day mark, had a week off, and then started bleeding again w/tremendous pain. I bled for a week before I could get into a new OBGYN who said it needed to be removed. I was hoping the removal would stop the pain and bleeding which it did the first day, but now I am spotting again. My regular period is to come in 2 weeks so at this point I could be bleeding the WHOLE month of April. Oh, to be normal again! I am hoping it's just the hormone irregularity post removal. We are hoping to get pregnant again soo, but it doesn't seem like it's that easy! Sad

Getting pregnant after mirena coil removal
I had the hormone coil removed 18 months after having my daughter whose just turned 2. Didn't have periods whilst having it fitted and decided to gave it removed due to feeling low in mood whilst having it in place and also wanting to try for baby number 2. I have had very light spotting like many of you since having it removed in June and although it appears I have a 25 day cycle back my periods have been so light I actually thought I may have conceived. My last period was a little heavier which could just be the lining of my womb thickening. Would so love to get pregnant again as would like to be on my maternity leave whilst my daughter is in pre-school starting next September, then my parents will only have one little one to look after, once I go back to work as my daughter will start school at 4, due to being a 19th of August baby. I've heard people do have months when they are more fertiile. I had a miscarriage prior to having my daughter and again that too would have been an august baby. Although I'd love to get pregnant I worry that it my be too much for my daughter to take on being a new big sister and starting pre-school if I were to conceive in a November again, but clearly don't have a clue where my ovulation cycle is up too!!! Any advise?

I am somewhat in the same boat as you. I have a daughter who is turning 3 soon and she'll be heading to pre-school in September of next year. She'll be three when she starts, but she'll turn 4 soon after and i'm sure she'll be ready. I would love to conceive ASAP and have baby number 2 here before she even starts school next year, but who knows. I had my mirena coil removed Friday and I started spotting yesterday and now its just brown/pink discharge. I have no idea where my cycle is, whether or not i'm ovulating, etc...i'm just lost. I'm so glad to be rid of the coil, but now i'm anxious for my body to get back on track. My doctor told me that we could start trying to conceive asap, but i'd like to at least get my first period before trying..but who knows when that will be from some of the other stories i've read. I guess i'm going to start taking daily ovulation tests as silly as that sounds and just see if i'm ovulating or not. Good luck to you..but i'm as lost as you are.

Hi all. I'm new here and would just like to share my story and possibly get some answers in turn.

I had my Mirena Coil fitted in January of 2009 at my 6 week post partum checkup, after my daughter was born. I really didn't have many problems with the mirena, other than mood swings and weight gain that wouldn't come off with regular diet and exercise. I never had a period while having my mirena once I stopped spotting from the insertion. I've wanted the my mirena out for some time now, but i've just been delaying because honestly I just hate going to the doctor..sad, but true. Finally I decided to make an appointment with my OB and I had my mirena moved on Friday (3 days ago). Removal was way easier and less painful than insertion and I am already feeling better. I didn't bleed at all upon removal, but yesterday I started to spot some and I mostly only have a light brown/pinkish discharge today. I know that this is only considered withdrawl bleeding, but i'm wondering when I can expect my normal period to return. I have no idea when to expect it or how long my cycles are considering that I haven't had a period since I had my daughter and that was when my mirena was inserted..in the middle of that cycle 2.5 years ago. We want to TTC ASAP for baby number two and my doctor told me that we could start trying asap, but I would like to at least have 1 period before we start trying. Just looking for similar stories and just general things to expect.

Mirena removal
I just had my Mirena removed on August 31st after having it for exactly five years. I have also had a light spotty period for about four days and now nothing. Just wondering as well if this was my actual period or when I am ovulating? I really want to have a baby soon but not sure if the length of time I had it in matters? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!
