Q: Spotting a week before my period-painful outer vaginal lips

I am a nineteen year old girl and I have had my period since the sixth grade. I have never spotted in my life, so I am very concerned. The discharge started yesterday and it is light brownish red with little tiny blood chunks. I am not due to start my period for another 9 days. I have had the same sexual partner for 17 months, I was tested for STDs twice since we have been together and I am negative for everything, as is he. I have been on birth control for about 13 or 14 months. Recently I have been feeling some pain on the lower part of my vaginal opening(farthest away from the clitoris) and it is sometimes painful to have sex, which is a HUGE problem for me. I just hope that it is not a serious problem, and I hope that I am not pregnant. Should I be worried?
