Q: spots of pigment loss

I was diagnosed with late onset Type 1 Diabetes. About 6 months prior to the diagnosis... I noticed small spots of pigment loss on my forearms. No itching, completely smooth. Nothing painful. They are about 1/4 to 1/2 inch in diameter and they have a tiny pinpoint sized red dot in the center of each. These spots have multiplied to cover my forearms and the tops of my legs. They are now starting to cover my upper arms and I've seen a few around my shins and calves. I have been to so many doctors and dermatologists and none of them know how to treat me. I've heard that I have reverse freckles, a fungus, a rash.... none of this has proven to be true. The spots do not fade or get worse with sun exposure. There is no change. The spots will fade for a few seconds if I rub my skin very quickly. They do worsen in cold weather. I have had these spots for over two years now. It's almost like tiny broken blood vessels all over my arms and legs... but with the white pigment loss around them. I have no idea what to do to stop this progression or improve on it. Even worse: Doesn't your skin warn you of problems within your body??? What is the true culprit? Any ideas?

White sopts with red dots (tiny broken blood vessels) in the cen
Did you ever get any answer? I've got exactly the same symptoms as you, just that I get those white spots with the red dots in the centre only on my arms and my cleavage. They don't change, they don't go away or get worse, if anything, they get more.
I have them since I got pregnant some months ago.
To me, too, the red dots in the centre look like tiny broken blood vessels. What is that condition we have?

Should you ever find out what the actual diagnosis is, I would most appreciate a post sharing the information. I found this post by searching for "small red bump with loss of pigment around it", as my 15 year old daughter has one spot like this on her back. It was not there a few months ago - no itching, no pain: it just appeared and we have no idea why. We have not yet consulted the doctor as we just returned from holiday.

I have actually seen a dermatologist a few weeks ago regarding another problem, and during that visit I thought I might as well ask him regarding those spots of pigment loss. He just said it was normal to have spots of pigment loss. Since he was in a hurry I didn't get to ask any more questions, like where this problem comes from and whether anything can be done about it. And back than I hadn't really discovered that there were those little red dots in the middle of the white patches, so I didn't think these skin changes where anything special worth further consultation by a doctor, I thought maybe they were caused by the sun or as mentioned before by the pregnancy, and would eventually fade away...
But since I have discoverd that there is a tiny red dot in every single white patch, I think it would be worth to consult another dermatologist on this.
I have been on holiday recently, but I think I might go and ask for an appointment soon. I really hope something can be done about these skin changes. I mean, they are not bothering me a lot, but since they are mainly on my cleavage... it just dosn't look nice... And ah... since the last post I have also discovered some of them on my legs. So they seem to be spreading...
If you see a doctor about your daughter's spot soon, I would be really happy to hear what his/her oppinion was on this!

I have the same, and am 8 1/2 months pregnant. I've just discovered I have low B12 and am having injections, I'm thinking/hoping this is the cause of the white spots with tiny red dots in the center.
