Q: Spleen regeneration

i had an emergency splenectomy in 1982 when i was 7 years old.. i have had adhesions and numerous other problems but just recently i was told by an e.r. doctor that my spleen is regenerating.. how is this possible and does this mean i wont always be as sick as i am now.. please help, faith
