hi,
i had a throat infection and fever in early january. after a blood test i was diagnosed with mononucleosis.
i felt tired for ~10 days and then all the symptoms went away. after like three weeks i went swimming and around this time i started feeling disconfort in the upper left side of the abdomen.
it feels like something is rubbing the ribcage from within. it could be a torn muscle from swimming but i really think its the spleen.
i know an enlarged spleen is a common symptom of mono. but its been more than two months now and the disconfort/pain is still there. it seems to be better during sleep and in the morning, then it progressively gets worse during the day. it doesn't feel better or worse if i move, breath, etc.. and otherwise i feel fine. i have no other symptoms as far as i can tell.
is it a common symptom of mono that the spleen enlargement would initiate after the other symptoms are gone and last this long?
could the mono diagnosis have been a wrong diagnosis or could mono lead to something else?
i appreciate any info.
thanks!
m.
