My daughter who is turning 12 next week has a 32 degree curve. In Calgary, we only have the option of a hard brace. I have heard of and researched the Spinecor brace which seems to be an option worth considering. I have spoken with Alberta Blue Cross who are very vague about what is covered. It keeps coming down to whether it's custom molded for her versus custom fitted. It it's custom molded, they cover $1200/year. If it's custom fitted, they only cover $500/year. Big difference considering I will have to travel either to Seattle or Montreal to have it made and for follow-up (big trip).

Has anyone else in Alberta had experience with this? Blue Cross will not commit in writing beforehand and I'm afraid to purchase the Spinecor and find out that they decide it's only covered for $500.

Anyone with any experience with the Spinecor (I've been reading as much as I can find on forums already) but personal experiences are welcomed. I just can't understand why it's been around for about 15 years but is not widely accepted.

Thank you, Susan
