Q: Spinal Stenosis and new spinal fusion technique

I am interested in anyone who have undergone a recent spinal fusion. I have severe spinal stenosis with degenertive spinal disease on multiple levels. Have consulted with a neurosurgeon re: Dynesys Stabilization, which he recommended. This surgery stabilizes without using a bone graft. Gives more flexibility. I know there are several others available. Just wanted some input from someone who "has been there, done that! Input regarding any fusion technique and how the results have been will be greatly appreciated.

Hello Gigigirl,

Unfortunately, I can't answer your question regarding this techniaue.

I would suggest that you seek the advice from two other neurologists/spinal surgeons. Let them "analyize" your situation and tell you what they think is wrong. Then ask them what you suggest you do. Very last question - Ask for their thoughts regarding Dynesys Stabilization.

Way back a number of months it seems someone mentioned the above technique. I'll see if my ole grey matter and remember where on this forum.

In any case do your research well before considering the Dynesys Stabilization technique.

Hello Gigigirl,

Go to Google and type in "dynesys stabilization ehealth". That should take you to an EHealth thread titled "Dynesys/Dynesis - Spinal Surgery". Some of the posters have had this done with mixed results.

If you have any problems finding this thread let me know.
