I had L4-S1 Spinal fusion 8 years ago but now require revision surgery as 2 of the screws have penetrated the bone and are pressing on nerve roots. I think revision offers me the best long term solution as my surgeon has tried a number of alternative treatments and when he injected around the screw sites I got temporary pain relief. My question is how long is recovery from surgery likely to take? When can I drive again and as I spend my working day sat down looking at a screen when can I return to work?
Joanna I see that no one has replied to this. Have you had the surgery yet? I have to have the same thing done in July and I was wondering how your surgery went. Nov. 2010 I had 3/4 of my spine fused with cages, rods, screws, etc. and now have complications with the bottom of the fusion, thus the surgery. I have been told 4-6 months recovery. Do you have any feedback?
i had a fusion of L1 to L5 10 yrs ago. Was great but having revision fusion using titanium next week, the first op was only done with bone grafts so recovery much longer. Anyone got any positive info for me? i ride race horses for a living. Well, i did. Don't think i'll get back to that but hope to ride my own. Be really grateful to hear from people who understand. My partner is fab, but try as he might he really can't empathise!
