My husband will be having spinal fusion surgery soon, and I don't really know what to expect when he comes home from the hospital. We have two young (7 and 9) children, and I work full time. He has been home for the last 3 years, and has taken care of dinner, cleaning, homework, etc. Can anyone give me an idea of how things will be?

Hello Jacobs,

Welcome to this forum.

I had hoped that those that have had spinal fusion surgery would have responded with their experiences and thoughts.

I have not at this time had spinal surgery. If I may "speak" from what I have read from those that have had spinal fusion surgery - It is a very long and slow recovery. He will not be making dinner, cleaning or doing any homework for a number of months.

I hope your employer will understand and give you some time off so that you can give your husband the support he will need.

May I suggest that you go to the "Laser Spinal Surgery" thread and read through some of the posts. And please do ask any questions that you may have on that thread. Some have had "traditional" spine surgery, and can bast tell you of their experiences and thoughts.

I wish you and especially your husband the very best in the days to come.
