It has been 5 weeks since I had my stimulator installed.Still a little sore from lamenectomy and all.My doctor is returning me to work on monday.I am a little worried. The only restriction he gave me was "no overhead work" and "no lifting over 50 lbs."for 6 months.I am an assembly line worker at a major auto manufacturing plant. My job has me lifting, bending, reaching, pushing and pulling once a minute for 8 to 10 hours.Thats doing the above actions 400 to 500 times in a day.I install the front steering linkage on large trucks. It weighs about 40 lbs.I am worried about messing up the leads. The manual says to avoid most of those activities.Do any of you have experience in activities to avoid?Any help or advice appreciated.Good luck to all of you...

Those are questions that you should be asking your doctor, not members on a forum.

There are several different models of spinal cord stimulators that are used and it may be that different ones have different restrictions.

If the manula says to avoid most of the activities that you do for work, then it is obvious that you will have problems if you do those activities when you return to work.

I would suggest you discuss this with your doctor as you may not be able to return to your present job with the SCS.

I understand and thanks..The book is very vague when it comes to activities to avoid.I will contact medtronics and see what they have to say.My doctor seems to be one of those tuff kind of guys and may not fully grasp the type of work i must do.I only wanted to ask members on a forum because they work and live with these implants and may offer some usefull advise,I know this is not profesional advise, and all will be passed by my doctor before using.
