Hi there,

I had a spinal block when i had a c-section - ever since that needle went in i have been mainly/partially numb from my belly button to the back of my knees. I get shooting pains down my legs and i get alot of back pain, and are obviously very numb all round.

I have had mri scans and nerve conduction tests but they wont actually say that this numbness is directly involved with the spinal.

Has anybody elses spinal gone as badly as mine?
I would like to hear from u.

What do you mean "but they won't actually say that this numbness is directly involved with the spinal?

What where the results of your MRI scans and the nerve conduction tests?

The original post is kind of old so I'll answer yours. You shouldn't be numb at all. If you're still numb after 15 wks. you need to see a neurologist.

sorry for the late reply. i'm still numb after 2.5years.. so i hope urs does get better - but don't wait around - make sure u see a neurologist like wendyrs said. i'm still going to the neurologist and urologist but they still wont say wot's actually the cause? but i know i was fit and healthy before the epidural - and when i went up on ward, i was still very numb..

Claire,

You may have a mal-practice case on your hands and the doctors don't want to admit that something went wrong during the procedure. The numbness should have went away pretty quickly afterwards. If I were you I would vist a mal-practice attorney and begin noting everything. Let the attorney guide you on who to see. The docs know they messed up and they will always back each other up.

No, I didn't have a problem and I'm not in the medical field, just a supporter here on this site and I did go to nursing school many years ago and I know when something doesn't sound right. I had 2 c-sections a long time ago...my youngest is 18 years old. With both c-sections the numbness afterwards wore off right away. You shouldn't be numb after 2.5 years. That's insane. I wish you luck and I'm glad you are taking action.
