I have moderate disc dehydration at L1-L2 & L5-S1. There is Osteochrondral indentation of the superior end plate of L3 and to a lesser extent L5, might be Schmorl's nodes. And a 8 x 4mm cystic adjacent to the ventral surface of the thecal sac right of the midline at L5, likely an Arachnoid Cyst.

I go to see a neurologist tomorrow for further prognosis. But my question is now, which ill discuss with the neurologist will be is pain management going to be part of the treatment. Im in unbearable pain, only thing ive been given my clinical primary M.D. is muscle-relaxers prior to the MRI that discovered the mass and other issues. When I saw her yesterday she didnt write a prescription for actual pain relief, she said to wait till I saw the neurologist. Im figuring after an assesment of my condition he'll write me something that will actually deal with pain im in, the muscle-relaxers are doing NOTHING to relieve the condition. So im asking anyone with experience somehow with this condition or is in the medical field to tell me what the neurologist probable action will be and also if I should go to a pain management specialist.

Thank You

I hope oyu get help..I have back pain and I understand how bad you are feeling..Please keep in touch and let me know what happens..

I see both a Neurologist and a Pain Specialist..The Pain Specialsit wants to try again a Spinal Pain Pump..We may go this route again and I say agian because the first trial I had with it gave me a 24 hour spinal headache..Not a pretty site..Even with all the pain I dread surgery so much that I will try almost anything..I have found tha Lidocaine patches helps with the surface pain and that is a little help-to me a little is better than none..kd

Thank you for your response, and yes its brutal aI cry atleast once a day around afternoon time because just from moving around the house. But in the morning ill take a walk and when it needs it, I try to mow my parents yard for them. In tryin to get some excersise in. The Neurologist I say said I shouldnt even do as much as I am cbecause hes afraid for me. Im on government insurance, so they must follow protocol, so all he could give me is Tramadol, but in two weeks he said hes alound to give me hydrocodone or oxycodone(Percocet). I have to have another MRI but this time with contrast in 4 months to see if the cysts are growing. Oyeah, I have more than one cyst in my spine, 2 herniated disc and Degenerative Disc Disease(DDD). I found all that out other day after seeing him.

He referred me to Pain Management but because I have government healthcare, their going to under prescribe me. And I know a good Pain Specialist that would knows what kind of pain im in, but hes a private practice physician so if I go to him, they might drop my government insurance. So im stuck.

The lidocaine patches honestly, barely last 2 hours for me and the pain comes back with a vengenance. If you dont mind me asking, what does your pain management doc prescribe you?
