I am looking to find alternative medical options for my young daughter. She had suffered from spina bifida which caused her to loose sensation in her colon, so she doesn’t have the normal urge to go to the bathroom. I am searching for parents who have dealt with or dealing with the same problem and would like to hear if you have found any alternative ways to help your child such as Eastern Medicine or others.

Thank you for listening/reading.

Hi. I am not a parent of a child with Spina Bifida but I was trying to see if I could find any information to help you. Have you contacted the Spina Bifida Association?
http://www.spinabifidaassociation.org/site / ? I would think you would be able to link up with some other parents possibly through their website.

I also found this information: Bowel control also is a problem, but usually can be achieved by children with this disorder. It may, however, take a great deal of time, patience, careful dietary management (to keep the stools soft), and the occasional use of suppositories or other bowel stimulants, or special enemas.

Have you already tried these things?
