Hi, I am a 24 year old female.
A doctor at the weekend saw me at a walk in clinic for pain I was having on my side, where there is also a small squishy lump. The lump is just under my rib cage on my left side. It sometimes disappears completely but I mainly notice it in the mornings, it is not uncomfortable going to bed etc, but in the morning it aches.
I have been meaning to get it checked out anyway, but at the weekend was the first time it hurt in the day, it hurt like having a "stitch" but the pain was more specific to the area where the lump was, which prompted me to go to the walk in clinic. The Doctor there said it seemed to him like a Spigelian hernia and advised me to go see my own Doctor and he will orgainise me an ultrasound.
Since the weekend, the pain gone away a bit, not totally, it comes back I have been walking around whilst shopping, for example, I will get twinges of pain. I am seeing a my own Doctor next week but I was wondering if I should be taking any precautions - I am a sales assistant and do lots of standing, walking, streching, lifting, bending etc. Am I ok to keep doing this until my appointment? Obviously if it hurts to do something, I will stop, but should I be doing these things in the first place?
(I have looked for info online but can only find things about working after a hernia repair. not working WITH a hernia, I really don't want to make it worse!)
