Q: Sperm longevity in the uterus
asked by: DoctorQuestion on April 14th, 2009
I am 4 months pregnant and a week or two. I want to know when i got pregnant. My last period started the 9 thru the 16 of dec. My cyle comes usually every 22 or 23 days. It is said to be that my fertile days are from the 18 thru the 20th DEC. I looked it up on the internet conceive calculator. Lets say i had sex on the 13 of dec during my period. Could that sperm survive inside me till the 18?

Menstruation Answer A6332

Ovulation occurs exactly fourteen days before the start of the next period. In your case, your ovulation occurred on 18th or 19th of December assuming that you had your normal menstrual cycle length.

Given the most ideal conditions (ideal vaginal/uterine environments, fertile CM, strong sperm health, etc) sperm may be able to survive between six and seven days in the female genital organs. However, it usually survives only for one or two days.

In the end, there is always a possibility that you had an altered length of menstrual cycle.
